Platinum Print from We Are Loughborough Junction series

Aug 2nd 2011 | 0 COMMENTS

I’ve just received a wonderful Platinum Print in the post from ‘139 Printroom’ a new boutique chemical printing service launching later this month.

The image is from the ‘We Are Loughborough Junction’ exhibition from 2010. I am considering a series of limited edition platinum prints. Platinum printing is an old process that uses platinum instead of silver in the print making process. Its a complicated chemical printing technique. We used an approved digital file from my final exhibition series and created a negative that could be used to make a contact print straight onto the paper. Its a wonderful technique that produced a gorgeous extended tonal range that must be seen to be appreciated. I’ll be framing this and showing soon. 139 Printroom is a new service, I’ll post their website when they launch later this month. They will be using some of my images to demonstrate the process.
