FOALS LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL Blu Ray packaging

Dec 2nd 2013 | 0 COMMENTS

The quite brilliant FOALS have a new live DVD & Blu Ray out and I’m tickled that they are using my photographs for the packaging.

I love shooting at The Royal Albert Hall, its such a lush backdrop for a band, lets face it, most venues are a dull black affair. I had photographed The Swell Season there before with Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and it made for a gorgeous set of images.

It was a bit of a squeeze on the day as the production was a huge deal at the Royal Albert Hall, they had a squillion cameras and the pit was full of photographers but I stuck my elbows out and tried to catch their energy and raw power. I like bands that don’t mess about and they really stormed it - you can get a taste here in the trailer. The film is brilliant, directed by Dave Ma who made my favourite video from last year (Foals) Inhaler, he has caught their every move in HD - it looks stunning on Blu Ray. The back of my head and a part of my lens is in one of the shots early on, sorry about that guys!

The packaging is designed by Leif Podhajsky - I’m only showing a few spreads here, the whole Blu Ray package is a beautiful thing. The DVD is released as a special Holy Fire re-release with none of the live packaging.
